a fairground life

Still working everyday in the shed. No matter how much we do,we can still find more to be done.I got a contact for the air suspension on the DZ and received a diagram to alter the system from the suspension manufacturer. We spent two days crawling around under the ride to fit the second levelling valve and guess what-- No Difference--the trailer is still listing at one side. Being sick to the back teeth we left it for the time being. The motor for the miami was ready for uplift so we went to pick it up before the weekend. The crane lifted the motor into place easily but it was awkward to fit- the lifting eye is on top of the motor but the motor mounts at a 45 degree angle, effectivley making the eye useless. Do manufacturers think of anything when it comes to future maintenance? So after messing around with ratchet straps, planks, skates and other assortments of items we finally managed to get the motor into position. We will not know if the leaking shaft seal problem has gone until we get operational. Coming up for the last week until we have to leave the shed. We will keep working until the last few days then it will be a major pick up,pack up and clean up before we move out. The building has been surveyed, I think it is either let, sold or for re-development so not much chance of getting it next year. Never mind, I might get a holiday instead!!!!!!!

Me again. starting to get the hang of this, well at least this time I'm replying to the correct section,LOL.
I know I'm probably stating the obvious but I take it the compressor, air dryer and governer valve on the tractor are all working OK and that the trailer was'nt parked up over the winter with a tank full of moisture ? If it was, thats most probably whats causing the problem as moisture attracts dirt (especially when parked indoors)which in turn blocks valves. Good news is its relatively easy to clear these blockages with an air line.

hi, some back ground info-
this ride has had no shot blasting near it. The problem has been there since I got the ride a year ago so I cant blame a build up of moisture. The air bag must be ok as I can raise it higher with the raise lower valve. The ride is constructed in a way that puts about 1500 kg more along one side (near side). It had only one levelling valve in the centre of the axle. It now has two placed at each side of the axle so I could set the heights independent (or so I thought). I re-piped the systems as per a diagram from www.erentek.co.uk (uk agents for Bertocco the suspension manufacturer). The suspension works but the heavier side is still lower than the light side and it will not raise any higher even when I work the linkage by hand or alter the linkage, however the lighter side will. Both sides will lift higher using the raise lower valve but not level. The system is only 3 years old. NEW THOUGHT---> I have a system on the skydiver that works 4 bags in 2 separate pairs. Maybe I should map how it works!!! I thought that maybe it was a common air problem from the load sensing valve, maybe it is allowing the pressure to equalise between the bags, may be I could remove the light side bag from the sensing valve and T the heavier side into both ports to fool the valve or just blank one port off. What do you think??? Ps I dont get your email address from the comments so if you want to talk further you can email me at --->info@funfair-scotland.co.uk
Thanks for taking the time.

I'd suggest you need to find out what pressure is going through your trailer. There should be a test port outlet somewhere near the control valve. I'd be looking for around 9bar if the trailer is running near full gross weight & possibly 6 / 7 bar if the trailer isn't running that heavy, assuming of course that the compressor on the tractor is providing sufficent pressure.
It's most probably one of two things. Most likely(very common on tippers) the trailers original leveling valve has become defective in which case don't waste your time trying to repair, fit a replacement valve, or less likely, the load sensor value is back feeding which in turn will be pumpimg up the side of the trailer with least weight resistance.again the resolve is to fit a replacement load sensor valve. Hope this is of some help

That's gave me something to explore. I did think about trying the other port (the one I have blanked now) on the original levelling valve as this valve is still connected to the heavy side.
thanks for the tips.

blakey here. cant believe it you starting to sound inteligent. with ref to anonymous comment about tractor pressure, have you tried one of your other units under dz just to eliminate this from equasion.i could hav walked up yard to suggest this but you not in.

Blakey, the DZ has been on both the EC10 (skydiver unit) and EC12 (DZ) unit with no difference. Plus the skydiver suspension works fine with either unit. So it must be a DZ problem.
