a fairground life(sign off)

I wonder what the new rides will be when the Dropzone is as old as the Carousel?
Good Friday
Arrived on site just before 11am. I did absolutely nothing yesterday (Thursday) except sleep all afternoon and then into bed before 8pm. That was my first day off for eleven weeks. I enjoyed it but it meant I was not finished ready for opening today. I had some mains to run out. I did this and then started the set, Bang! and a puff of smoke from the plugs.I looked at the LCD display and was relieved to see all three phases still had voltage, it must has been some water in a plug that had been shorted out. The generator seemed ok after that. The Miami motor started to leak oil again, so it seems it was removed in vain. The Dropzone ram seals were fine though and the ride worked well today. Old faithful the skydiver worked fine as usual. We had rain, wind, sunshine, hail and even a flutter of snow today--typical Scottish weather. That said it was good to be back out again and more importantly some income after 9 weeks of spending! "R" went to arrange his HGV lessons this morning, so hopefully by the end of the year I will have less lorries to drive myself.
Well it has been a year and a bit since I started writing. I hope I have shed some light on the Showmen's way of life (and it is a way of life because if it was a job we would have all jacked it in for an easier one by now). At times, other showmen's circumstances made for more exciting reading but I would never write about it. The funfairs roll out all over the country again for another season. What has gone before will come again, so in the interests of avoiding repetition I think I will leave it at that. (?)

Thanks for reading.

I'm sure I speak for a lot of people when a say,
Please please don't contimplate stopping. Your diaries are informative and in years to come will undoubtedly be used as a modern historical reference.
Over the last 20 years there have been so many changes that were never properly documented. Wishaw and Hamilton but to name two. It's blogs such as yours that will provide the real history, both for show people and the wider general public.

The person who posted the first reply is right.Don't stop writing. If there isn'nt much happened why don't you sometimes write about past experiences like the old "Wishie fair" Unless someone does it soon, not only will we have lost the fairs but also all the memories. My main memory of "Pissie Wishie" is pulling down on a Saturday night in the bucketing rain.
Keep going S.

Why all of a sudden have you decided to stop writting ? If you read your own "Welcome to my blog" you'll quickly realise your still a million miles away from reaching your goal. Everybody has off days. Whatever made you make such a rash decision, GET OVER IT and keep writing at least until such time as you've achieved what you were originally trying to do. It's a bit silly to stop now, after all you've done the hard bit, chuck it now and in two weeks you're have lost you're readership.

Why give up? Your blog has been witty informative and a good read, aye summers a busy time, but no two seasons are the same.
All the more reason to keep on filling up a usefull history of what youve been up to, something you may look back on in later years and enjoy yourself!!

It would indeed be a great pity if you decided to stop writing your blog. I have found it most entertaining and informative over the months I have been reading it and it looks like many others have too.

As everyone else has said, please don't stop writing your blog. I look in most nights (whilst at work on nightshift!) to see what you have been up to & have always found it to be very interesting. I'm sure you can recall more stories to write about, even if there's nothing new for you to write, but going by past posts, there's always something new!
