a fairground life
The last few weeks have seen the miami develop a severe oil leak from the hydraulic motor shafts. The oil was being pushed out of the shaft seals and dripping down the front panels. This had started off as an intermittent problem over a year ago but now had reached the point of needing to be addressed. The motor that I had serviced in the shed last year was the main culprit and I had fitted several new shaft seals over the last couple of years to try and solve the problem. I can't believe how easy a fix the problem actually was when JM told me what the problem would be (he is one clever guy), no need to remove the motors or have parts machined etc etc. It turned out that the drain line from the motor had become clogged and this led to a pressure build up in the motor casing that resulted in the oil pushing its way out through the shaft seal. All I did was put on a second drain line with a bigger bore back to tank. Cheap too, total cost £17.50. The last two days have seen nil oil drips from the motors and I can tell you I am VERY pleased. I also tweeked the drive mechanism today by cutting a massive 1mm off of the dynex lever to adjust the parking position speed, minute adjustments indeed. Hope the weather holds out until Monday..

Glad to hear all the usuals are well, that was a nice easy fix showman, and cheap too the best kind. Well about three weekends left until my first event of the season (away from the indoor pitch) still have the welding to get done, two pairs of lights on the trailer to change, re painting to finish and a wheel bearing to change. Looking forward to getting out in the sun again. Hope all is ready in time! btw cant seem to find 'blakeys blog' on google, anyone have a link? lol.
Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and long may it continue. We might get a shilling or two yet!
ah no ive not seen blakeys link yet ha ha dont encourage him, ah yes its been a nice weekend for a bank holiday weekend, wheres ur first outdoor venue jesters many thanks. borderer.
good evening all is anyone out there???
Small progress this end, rear lights are now changed and working on all trailers, with four side markers still to change.
Events starting to fill up now, why do they all do galas on the same day as each other? Not helpfull. My first outdoor venue is also just about my largest so it really is a tester for all the kit thats been lying indoors having a nice easy life. Its my home town borderer, so i have to make sure all is right or face a slagging in the pub later! Painting still to finish, picked up the bearing and a spare, hopefully its the right one, will be fitting that this sat all being well. Still no sign of the welder yet. Hope showmans and blakey are making a pound wherever they are!
Showman and blakey both washed out at different places at the weekend. That's me had the first tractor on the front of my lorry already this year. Spent all day yesterday washing mud off everying.
Showman out of internet range for two weeks. The bad news is he's been away over a week so he's back on sunday.
Hope he tells you about how he ripped the safety wire rope off his mothers roundabout and then blamed r. Trust me it was'nt r's fault this time.
