a fairground life

Since last week I have fitted a new bellhousing to the skydiver pump. This was to reduce vibration coming from the pump motor coupling as it was running very very slightly out of line. I had ordered the part a couple of days before but it was unclear whether the bellhousing would be correct as the motor plate number did not correspond with the measurements I took. So after closing one night at 8pm we decided to fit it. We cut off the old mounting brackets, removed the piping and took the pump off. After a couple of measuring sessions with the tape we calculated that the motor end of the coupling would have to come forward 9mm. So out with the pulley draws to do this. "r" removed the retaining grub and we drew the coupling forward. We inserted the rubber spider and tried the bellhousing on. Yippee it fitted (good job we went with measurements instead of plate number) as I did have visions of welding all the old gear back on again. After an hour and half we tried it out. With the new arrangement we have zero vibration and at least a 30% reduction in motor noise, plus it looks professional, a success I would say.
As for the filter arrangement on the set its not as successful. The fuel seems to be running back, but its too quick to be an air leak in the piping. No I think the two filter arrangements are creating some kind of vacuum. So I fitted a new lift pump again just to be sure but it still needs bleeding in between start ups. So I'm gonna try a non return valve between the filters. Failing that I might try a loop in the fuel pipe. Now that's an idea!, I could extend the fuel feed pipe and run it higher than the engine then drop it down to the new filter, this way the fuel can't syphon back to tank, plus that would be cheaper than a valve! decisions decisions!

Thats a expensive drive in the country borderer. Rather you than me trying to fill that with fuel, thats a sore one. Glad to hear the repair went ok showman. Its always satisfying when it works out ok. There is always a way of repairing older kit while newer machines of any kind just arnt built this way.
Machines now a days arnt built to be repaired or serviced with any kind of ease. Big labels advise you to keep out on pain of death. Units are sealed and un openable made only to be inter changed with another unit only available from timbuktoo at huge expense.
The wifes car packed in on the way back from our last games, after picking her up on the way back i looked under the bonnet to be met by a large wall of plastic. The joy of a new vehicle. I will stick with the iveco! The alternator had gone which also knocks out the power steering, very handy.
Im at the indoor pitch until the next games in a couple of weeks time. Trade was quiet at the weekend as most folk are at t in the park. Hope this weekend is better! Regards to all, and when are we getting the blakey story??

good day all yes when will we hear blakeys story or is it to censored for blog status lol, im sitting in the farmhouse kitchen waiting for the weather to clear up so we can get out cutting silage, myself and miss borderer took my grandparents to glagow airport last night as there off to the costa del sol for a fortnight and we were driving through carnwath en route home(a small village on the glasgow to peebles road) anyone no it well i heard this thud thud we were in the farms l200 pick up which has been in for 2 new tyres and new break pads well it got worse and eventually without any warning the drivers side tyre came off and rolled past us and we went crashing on the road so i have spent an hour up at the garage and turns out they have an apprentice on work experience for summer and he fitted the tyres and there was no one watching over him i no its not his fault you would think the word experience means learn from others so anyways we got some compensation to keep it quiet lol i was less than impressed.

Your right jesters. The old school mechanics are dying out. Their just fitters now. Take the part out and wap in a new one,and dont worry about the cost. I got lucky with my recent problems. My father left the brake on his hobby caravan. I happen to tow the hobby with the flc. I released the brake after about two miles. I stopped near glencoe after about seventy miles to discover that one of the hubs was cracked and the bearing were knacked.I had a spare hub for the roundabout, but it was a different fitting. I managed to get home after running back to glasgow to borrow a hub of big d[thanks]whos hobby was recently written off. Things can always be worse. I inspected all wheels the next day. Near side was ok,but needed new hub shoes bearings and locking nut for one wheel and shoes for the offside. The lucky part came when i phoned mark p at hobby near gretna. He sorted me with two complete second hand hubs off caravan he had in yard. The bearings actually come as a sealed unit so it was an easy fit. I also now have a spare hub. Big thanks to mark p for that. I would probably still be waiting for the break shoes if i had to order new ones.
Sounds like you had a lucky escape borderer. You should have taken the new range rover.
Its been a bit quiet from showman of late. I think we should mount a takeover bid. It should'nt be hard to make things more interesting.
I managed to get a few driving shifts in as i was closed this week. The early starts were a killer. I'm now off on thursday for sat sun event in lancashire. Hope to be all set up on thursday night as usually take kids to blackpool on the friday. They've been saving up this year cos i'm skint, and their gonna buy their own tickets for pleasure beach this year.
I'm off now to pick up my oldest sons kit for the special olympics. He leaves on the 24th with the rest of the team. We going down to leicester on the 27th as we have an event on the 26th. He does'nt start competing until the 28th so we wont miss too much. I will let you know how he gets on.
