a fairground life (more cancellations)

We left the mall on Monday evening. The crew arrived at 5pm and we were all pulled down for 9pm, not bad. The DZ was put on the yard awaiting the rock4life gig near Nairn. The other kit was parked at a nearby Showmens yard to await the Bank Holiday Monday. The gate was tight and I could not get through it that afternoon so we left it outside. That night we returned when the street was empty and reversed the gear in the gate. The next two days I have spent in bed with flu or something. In fact I have been trying to shake this off for a week but eventually had to visit the doc for antibiotics. So the last two days have been spent in bed, just a good job we were closed this week. Oh and rock for life was cancelled today aswell, what a surprise (sarcastically). "r" has been busy though doing some welding and electrical repair work around the place. Hopefully I will be up and about before my week off expires. cough! cough!

Don't sound too good showman why are gaff's getting cancelled all of a sudden I don't think its the norm but I can't get my head round it. It looks like council involvement lack of money from the government cut backs and the like if so how many more are they, the thing is, decisions are taken with out thinking of the repercussions which affect show people, as long as the people who make them are OK its b%%%ger everyone else, any how you can rep-remand me for bad language but its about time something was done. If youv'e got the flu bug sorry mate, try half a bottle of Grouse and plenty of rest, sounds like the times about right (beteen dates) so to speak maybe we'll see you for the tall ships. Flatty

Sorry to hear you have been under the weather showman, hope for a speedy recovery! I always tend to be unwell on holidays, like your body knows it has the time to be ill?
The music events are going to suffer this year, folk have less spare money for expensive tickets and poor sales seem to be the reason for most being cancelled.
Using your glass half full notion though maybe with the recent flight disruption punters will be more inclined to holiday in the uk and spend their money locally. Maybe every ash cloud has a silver lining. KLM was looking good this year and a better show than last years i thought, spending punters looked thin on the ground though and i didnt see any rides with queues. Hope all the usuals are well.
