a fairground life (secc)
The weekend at the mall was the same usual routine except that on Sunday night after closing, we lowered the tower of the DropZone in readiness for this morning. "r" was scheduled to be in uni until 1pm and I was at the dentist for 9:30am, then off to an iron mongers, decorators, electricians and finally an auto factors all for items I need forĀ the secc irn-bru venue. By now it was 11:30am and I decided to call "r" to find out where he was at. Turns out that his lecturer cancelled today's class so he was ready to go out to the DZ to pull down. First job on arrival was to get all the washing gear out. We scrubbed the ride from end to end (that's why we lowered the tower or it would have been from top to bottom) before we pulled it down. The plan being to take it over to the secc and leave it in a car park until access tomorrow. During this time the floor manager called to inform me that there might be a delay in getting inside and although the power is there I would still have to collar a sparky to wire my main in. According to those in the know, this can be frustrating as it take's a while. Any how we set sail for the secc and managed a whole 600 yrds before I had to pull in and change the fuel filter. Just lucky it didn't happen 5 minutes later or I would have chucked it in the middle of the Clyde Tunnel! So a few minutes more and we were off again, only this time I notice a bump, bump coming from the passenger side. I did think it was a flat or soft tyre, but not the case, so I ignored it and kept going as I only had a few miles to go. The rate of bump, bump increases or decreases with the speed of the vehicle. I thought that the tyre may have an egg on it, but not so on inspection. The wheel nuts all seem tight, the only thing I can think of is that the tyre has taken on a flat after sitting, but its only been a couple of weeks since it last moved and this usually happens to crossply tyres not radials. So a closer inspection will be needed at some later date. Tomorrow it will be all systems go to try and get in, set, half built up, then touch up the tower, fix all the lighting bulbs, finish building up then clean and polish the ride. I have also borrowed a couple of bouncy castle blowers to place in beside the hydraulics to try and keep the oil cool. Its doesn't take long for the oil seals to boil when working indoors.

good evening showman hope the secc is good buisness for ya what date the secc on to. cheers borderer
HI S
The very best of luck at the SECC. Hope it all goes well.
Re the bumping noise coming from the nearside front wheel. Given the extreme cold weather could be a swollen leading edge on the shoe. Couple of hard lock ups when the tractor is solo will quickly clear the problem. Was quite common on ERF's with slack adjusters especially if they already had excessive dust in the drum.
Hope you, your family, Blakey and all the regulars have a good Christmas.

Two posts in a week. Watch you dont get writer's cramp. I suppose i better write something since showman is making an effort.
At four in the big countdown is renault. They reach this high position mainly because the renault's i have driven have mostly used the afore mentioned bump box.[see man comment at number 6]. That's the one where you bump the gear stick left for low box and right for high. They beat man however as there cabs are much better than the square box man use. The auto renault suffer's the same faults as man daf etc. Very sluggish especially at roundabouts. Cabs on renaults very comfy with well positioned radio[some with remote control on steering wheel],and cupholder's. Cant stress enough how important they are. One renault model i drove a lot had the 24 vault socket right next to the ignition. Every time i turned the engine on or off my sat nav plug fell out. I suppose the french had to have a stupid design incorporated somewhere. Sorry i'm stereo typing.
Not explaining that one to 'r' would take too long. I must be giving the impression that 'r' is stupid. My writing must be better than i thought,i'm really getting my point's across. The day he starts designing bridges,i'm buying a boat.
I have never driven a renault magnum. Must be like driving from the top deck of a bus. Dont think i'd like it as i have my seat in the lowest driving position no matter what lorry i drive.
I drove a new renault auto earlier this year. I only drove it once, and had to get an other driver to show me where the gear selector was. I'd tell you where it was,but i cant remember.
This reminds me of the time fatso went back to driving, and drove a modern lorry for the first time.
He had to phone me to ask where he put his tacho chart.
That's it for now. I will try to finish the countdown by christmas eve. Ive always wanted to announce the number one at christmas.
hi ss, I think you have hit the wheel problem on the head, that brake was showing signs of working harder than the other. I'll give it a good lock up when I get the chance. started the secc tonight a 6pm, was slow at first but by 8pm we were riding at capacity.
