a fairground life
I'm down in deepest darkest Langholm, no mobile internet not even my mobile phone will work. So this is only a quick blast to let everyone know I'm still alive while I was in Carlisle getting supplies. I was back in Glasgow yesteray, but only long enough to set up the DZ in Dumbarton for the Scottish pipe band championships. It was a glorious hot sunny day, just as well as the pitch was a lovely grass park (just a pity its as level as the side of a mountain). The rain is falling in buckets today, it won't bother the tober here as it is a car park, but we really need the sun to shine tomorrow in Dumbarton. Back up the road on Sunday to civilisation, well at least mobile communications.

Hope you had decent non eventful run back up the road. I'm gussing you were down with the SD. At Langholm do they still allow you to pull down after you close on the Saturday night. I was talking to a guy on CH waltzer and he reckoned that if pushed they can pull down and be away in under 4 hours. Changed days. Nowadays how long does it normally take your lads to pull down and pack everything away?
hi showman hows things are you at langholm today i was gonna pop up but couldnt remember the finish date. hows all the regs cheers borderer.
Hav'nt had much time recently so spent a bit of time today reading back the last couple of months of the blog. It was good to catch up with Blakeys count down of the worlds best trucks, Although a decent wagon it's a big statement to claim the Volvo FH is the world's best ever truck. For a bit of inocent fun has anyone else got a view. Blogs as good as ever. Keep up the good work.
pull down times depends on a lot of factors apart from the type of ride. the weather and conditions like space also play a big part as well as the crew, but on average I say miami on my own 1h 10m down, but only 40mins with r assisting. skydiver with me and "r" 2hrs. dropzone with me and "r" 1h20m. The old paratrooper took me and BK 3h30m to pull down with good conditions and plenty of manoeuvring space. build ups are always longer cos you have to set on the position accurately and then level the rides off. rain really slows the job down and as Confucius said-the time to do a job will expand to the time available.
I can vouch for that last statement. If showman had a month to build up it would take him a month. Trust me it does.
With regards the truck countdown. Thanks for the comment, but please remember it was only a countdown of the trucks i have driven myself. I too would like to hear other opinions.
never mind all that count down rubbish, have you got the volvo fixed yet????? the mystery ailment that makes it almost impossible to start, you should shamelessly canvas for help on the tinternet like I do.
Hi S, Blakey & Gang
Whats up with FLC then that's making the wee motor so hard to start ?
By the by Blakey I really thought you were beginning to loose your marbles when you started going on about how good you thought the Actos was. Then I realised as you know a bit about wagons you're obviously only trying to have a laugh.
