A fairground life

I didn't think we were going to get opened at all on Boxing day. The snow was falling with flakes the size "of half crowns" according to my father in law, I don't know what that is in today's money. At around 1pm the snow stopped and I began to clear the rides and salt the platforms. This was supposed to be one of the "gaff" days but it didn't happen either here or at the secc. Who would venture out in that weather anyway? The temperature was a whole 1/2 degree above freezing so at least it felt warmer. The secc was cold inside too, obviously the heating was off during x-mas day. This resulted in "r" calling to say the DZ was not working, I told him to switch off the extra cooling fans and idle to pump for a few minutes to thin the oil. Sure enough that solved the problem, I must be getting to know the ride's idiosyncratic behaviour now. The water lasers are still frozen, I've finally put an electric heater in beside the pump in an attempt to thaw it out. At the last attempt there was still no joy. The pirate galleon ship in the water lasers looked more like HMS Discovery with the water frozen solid around its hull, hope it doesn't take two years to thaw!

That looks very cold there showman, difficult to persuade punters out in that, would have thought the secc would have been busier though as the advertising seems to be everywhere!
I am stuck for now as the work i am due at is a farm at the end of a very long single track road. The farmer has done his best with snow plough but it has now turned to a sheet of ice. I made a attempt yesterday but only got about halfway, i could have shouted for a tractor tow but the last time he tried this (some years ago) he took off at some speed and nearly removed the front axle. So laziness won and i retreated so time to catch up on clarksons book one of my more usefull christmas presents and re runs of sherlock holmes on the telly. Fantastic!
Hope all are well and that the mall gets busier for you.

Thanks for the photo Mr Showman does'nt seem to be many punters around what with the temps in the minuses I think you'll have a struggle to persuade any one to leave there fireside, on the bright side the long range weather forcast is for a BBQ summer now I think you'll be having a giraffe over that but thats what they are forcasting for next year. Flatty
