a fairground life
Well Coatbridge finished off on Sunday afternoon at 5:20pm. "r" and I pulled the skydiver down first and then onto the DZ. Just after 9pm Blakey came over and shifted the DZ away for me (thanks Blakey!) and I followed with the Skydiver. The yard is quite full at the moment but we managed to squeeze everything in. We are waiting on Bellshill Street fair this Bank Holiday weekend. So the last two days have been spent doing the weld repairs from Alloa, putting some trailer bulbs in and any other small, easy job, so as not to feel guilty about doing nothing. As for Coatbridge-The fair enjoyed nearly two weeks solid sunshine and this did mean better business than last year. It was very pleasant this year with no trouble from any youths and to think last year I really thought that would be the end. Just goes to show you should never write anywhere off. Winch is still not repaired as the engineer has been busy keeping other showmen on the road.

borderere here glad to hear buisness is picking up weather here in the borders has been good and should draw the crowds in when you attend border fairs when do you arrive in the borders keep up the good work and keep the coins rolling in.
Told you it would be scorching weather, and its going to get hotter yet!
As borderer said glad business has improved, hope things are going ok, odd to see no breakdowns? You should buy a lottery ticket!
borderer here do you attend border fairs jester.yes diesel prices and petrol prices are rising and food and other essentials are rising in cost but i think familys are not panicking now for example rushing to fill the car up and they no they can afford a good night out at the fair which brings the pounds rolling in.keep up good work.
I am but a small cog in the huge machine borderer, I dont travel far due to age and diesel prices, i am more likely to be found cluttering up a gala field locally with juvenille stuff, i just try the weekends for spare nuggets, not like the multi millionare showman with there major rides. lol
by the way showman, what about a q and a session on here? Post a time you will be on and all us out here can hit you with random decent questions? it would be interesting!!
does sound good in theory, but you lot have me at a dis advantage, most of you know who I am and I can only guess who you are, with that in mind you could probably guess my answer to any question. As for this blogging- its appeal was being faceless as I'm not much of an extrovert! anyhow you could post a question and someone else may have a better answer than me.

yours truly k.j
ps keep on truckin
ok, lets get the ball rolling, you mentioned you didnt like klm for various reasons, where is your fav pitch? Whats the best for access hardstanding cash etc and whats the worst? seemingly the further north you go the better turn out and support you get for a fair, do you find this to be true???
i have a question. you have to answer truthfully, but dont worry it's pretty straight forward. Did you like star trek. Not the movies the original series. Remember a simple yes or no will surfice.Ps this has nothing to do with the suggested forum.
I love the borders for numerous reasons, usually sunny beautiful towns and settings, Sundays off, fishing (in days gone by when I had 5 minutes), short shifts and plenty of company. The fun we had in our youths will last a lifetime.
Any fair you can drive into is usually ok for access, the most unusual fair for access was when we operated on an Ice Hockey pitch. All the equipment had to be moved into position on sheets of 20mm ply to protect the surface and spread the load so we did not squash the cooling pipes only mm's below the surface.
All fairs have different attributes, some have a short hard spell when you must earn all you can in a short time, some are slower paced but have longer hours. A bit like the tortoise and the hare, I would take the tortoise every time.
I tell you what I do think-get out of any city and into the smaller towns, north or south and the people are usually more polite, however the scourge of young teenagers drinking has spread there too. It's not the drinking thats the problem-it's that they don't know when to stop and usually start falling about and fighting among themselves. Then because it happened at the fair meant that it was our fault, even though there is no alcohol served on Uk fairs.
Love ALL Star Trek, thats why we have all TNG,DS9,Voyager,Enterprise and ALL the movies on DVD & VHS.
You know what's great about S/Trek Blakey?
They are not LOST!!!!!!!
borderer here what border towns do you attend i no your family attends hawick with dodgems am i right. many thanks keep up good work.
Hawick, Selkirk, West Linton, Melrose, Galashiels, up until a few years ago we also attended Kelso and Innerleithan. I have also opened in Berwick and Coldstream.
borderer here do you attend hawick personally? what ride u attend with. wont be long till shows roll into hawick think today is the start of them arriving. keep up good work.
so you admit you like original star trek. Can you tell me after all the boldly going that james t and the crew did, what actually happened at the end.I dont actually think there was an end.Dont even think there was supposed to be an end,as they were always going to continually keep going in a bold sort of way.So i now ask you. What was the point of watching????????
Well it's been scorchio this weekend hope your right about the summer weather jester's.
The point of going was "to seek out new life and civilisations, to boldly go where no man had gone before". James T told you this at the start of every episode and so did Jean luc, however he was more PC and it changed to "no one". Any way, they are on a Trek- that means to travel a long and difficult journey. its all in the title and prologue, were you not paying attention????? The question is -What's the point of being LOST? How many ways can you make being lost interesting??? You wouldn't want to be lost, so why would you want to watch being LOST. Lets face it when Lost is Lost and forgotten, good 'ol star trek will still be going strong and have 100 fold the fans! Who would want to be called a "LOSTY"??????????
When do you pull on to selkirk ?
Most people assume that one year is the same as the next-ie june follows may etc etc. But what does change is the number of days in any month- I don't mean the amount of days, I mean the number of Fridays or Saturdays etc etc. So this year there were 5 Saturdays in May and only 4 in June. it falls like this every few years. The result is that I cannot catch Selkirk personally (its one of my favourite places, in the top 3 (nothing to do with earnings)) but "r" will be attending with the Miami. These calendar changes affect all showmen every year and make some interesting affects on travelling fairs. I wonder if anyone has an almanac of fairs with all dates and locations, then with date changes-might make interesting visual graph. Something along the lines of birds migration patterns???
Ho showman were's my last biting quick wited comment. Dont tell me you've stooped to sensorship to win an arguement. You might as well move to china or russia if you gonna srart that. How about zimbabwai. You might win the election
Blakey, if I deleted anything there would be a remark next to it saying deleted by.... and time , date. this is provided by the server not me- obviously you have mis-placed were you posted it or you windoze machine is playing up or you did it wrong ya techno phobe!
