a fairground life

It was a mission for all involved, but we did manage to put on some kind of a fair. Friday morning and "d" had got the energy storm ride in on tracking. "jw" tried to move the miami in 1m to clear the path but couldn't do it. Mean while I flattened the ruts in front of the skydiver by repeatedly driving over them with the jeep. At 2pm "jw" took the ride out of the event to clear the path. He had sent for tracking. It came around 4pm, the miami came in again and eventually got set on the tracking. This is all said in a few sentences, but it took hours due to the ride getting stuck half in and half out of the gate, then having to be reversed along a roadway and up into the event field again so as to be facing the correct way. By 11pm that night the ride was finally erected. The sun did come and there were decent numbers at the event, although biz seemed slower. Again at pulling down most items needed towed out. I used part of the miami tracking to get the skydiver out and the tractor was used for some others. Even with the baking sunshine on friday and saturday the area was still soft underfoot.

Business at drymen a bit back on last year despite good weather. Had tractor on the blakey mobile again to get out.
I,m off to w l for next two weeks. It's my favourite place of the year. It's the only two week fair i attend,so lots of time to build up,and get some jobs done. Two weeks in a nice park ,nice wee pub up the road, and the locals are friendly. Cant say that about every place. Also got a good book shop so i'll pay my annual visit to that, and hopefully pick up a couple of nigel tranter novels or a good book on scottish history.
Were the h_ll i'm i going with this. This is nothing like the usual guff on the blog. Only a couple of drawbacks to w l. The dredded midge's,and a fortnight of showman. Wonder how long it will take him to set the ground this year. It took him two and a half hours the first year he had the dz,and there were only ten things on the whole fair.
I will of course be out of internet range for a while so will catch up when i get back. Hope all regulars are well, and keep busy while i'm away.

Sorry to hear the result at drymen was a bit down. Sometimes the effort put in to a event just dosnt get returned. I think most of the public never give it a thought sometimes, the hard work and dedication that is put into a event like this, esp on such terrible ground from the sound of it. Well i venture outside this sat so hope to remain tractor free. Wonder if i can do that all season? lol. Hope wl is good to you both. Dosnt seem like a year since you were fighting the midge's. Sunday bus was better borderer but too sunny and the punters didnt stay long. Enjoy the two weeks without a move showman and blakey. Look forward to a report on your return!
