a fairground life

R has completed the Muir of Ord gaff and had a decent fair. He left on Thursday night after pulling down. He and his Aussie counterpart drove straight to Dornoch and got to kip for 1:30 am. They were up again at 8am and erected the DZ ready for opening at 11am today. By 6pm they will be taking it down again and heading for Strathpeffer. Oh, to be on the right side of 30 again. Meanwhile here, I have been to St Andrews to help other family and arrived back at BOA for 9pm last night. The square opened at St A today at 11am. The rest of us will roll into South St on Sunday at 6pm.The town did seem a little quiet yesterday though. The lorries were still taking away loads of gear from the Open Championship. Surprise surprise the rain is falling on BOA for the fourth Friday night in a row.I cant complain too much as the last two nights have seen a great improvement on previous years.
The start of setting up in the square at St Andrews

Didn't expect a blog for another two weeks showman so I think its mighty kind of you to think of us flatties. Just to say well done to "r" for doing the rushing around up there it all adds up to another car next year, and to his mate good on yeh cobber nice of you to help out. Can't congradulate you showman cos you are taken for granted, something to do with the back bone of the business springs to mind. How's the lorry did the repair hold out? as you say it'll be the bonfires shortly then a bit of piece - but thats when the break downs happen hope the glass is still half full.
Glad to here from you Jesters hope you've had some tidy bizz. Blakey's gone off the scope but if you still read the blog Blakey hope you have had some good gaffs as well. Picture hasn't appeard yet but Marty Slaters has suppose thats life. Kind Regards Flatty

Just a thought showman why didn't the fair at St Andrews coinside with the open, or is this another one. With the punters there for the golf I would of thought it would have been a good opportunity Best Regards Flatty

I assume the dates of the market are fixed by custom long before golf was invented, and in this day n age of red tape I would bet my bottom dollar that the police wouldn't be able to police the two events at once. Anyway the golf punters probably wouldn't be interested in the fair. Also the buses park for the open where we park our trailers, so you know who would get the boot!

Borderer, Loch Lomond has a massive coast line, but if your at the Balloch end then stay at Cameron House (if you really want to splash out)
