a fairground life (sNOw so good!)

The weather turned nasty the last couple of days. The overnight flurry laid about 2 inches on the rides Friday night. Saturday morning I spent two hours clearing the floors and salting them. Biz was very poor and the cold weather seen more snow fall that night. Sunday was a blizzard and as I headed out to the AGM the roads where white and speed was down to 15 mph. Thankfully they decided not to open at all that day and I called Skyliner C to let him know. Unfortunately he was already en route. The snow did stop falling but that's one weekend lost thus far and its not even December yet! This morning I went out to the mall and cleared 3 inches off the rides again. I thought that I had better do it now before the temperature dropped anymore and it turned to permafrost. It took me from 10am-3pm to do the miami, dropzone and skydiver and my back is killing me.

Not to worry showman. I managed to get home (just lol). Had my big gig Saturday night in Rothesay with the new sound gear. Was definately my best gig in there. Finished at 2am Sunday, home for just after 3am. Knew I would be up in less than 3 hours after that so just stayed up and left here at 8am. The snow wasn't too bad...until I got to the mainland. No trains so waited for an hour for a bus and was just past Port Glasgow (the last stop before Glasgow) when Showman phoned to tell me Braehead was off. Back on same bus back to Wemyss Bay....only it breaks down at Greenock, transferred to another bus which only went as far as Gourock when was told by an inspector that the m.d of the bus company had cancelled all buses for rest of day and that no alternate transport would be provided! Motto to the story...NEVER travel on public transport on a Sunday...in the snow OH and always carry a spare tenner (never know when you might need it lol). Did make it home for 3pm and treated myself to a slapup meal at a local restaurant with some friends.

How did you get on at AGM showman? Hope all regs well

C

Deepest Sympathy Showman,it doesn't usually snow this early and been caught with a couple of fairs left in the middle of it doesn't help. Hope you make up for it on the run up to the secc.
But can you tell me when the cut off line is, when you decide to cancel an event, I mean when you don't have to even get the machines out of the yard? I can't imagine the punters wanting to come out in this weather unless your in a mall or something so if the fair is in the open can the lessee call it off or are you forced to attend? Nice of you to call sky c and save him a journey
but it looks like he had a bit of chew getting back. 10 out of 10 for getting the animals in shelter before it started borderer, suppose all you can do is sit it out, feeding and snow ploughing.
I have a feeling its going to last a while longer so its a case of stocking up with enough grub to see us through.
Kind regards to everyone Flatty.

It's not a problem showman. These things happen and out of control of everyone. That's good your back on the committee. You still doing WK on Friday night or has that fallen victim to the weather as well? I'm only 30 odd miles away from the mall/Glasgow and next to no snow here now. All roads and pavements in the town are clear....all except my street! Luckily the chap next door has access to grit supplies so he been out gritting the path and bit of road for access.

Hope all regs well
