a fairground life

The sun beat down all day, biz was quiet and at 6 pm sharp we started to pull down. worm and s arrived from Falkirk to give us a hand. s started on the skydiver while r and worm tackled the miami. I helped m with the show. For 7:10 pm the show and miami were en route for BoA. Leaving r and the crew to finish the skydiver and then the DZ. I returned to the mall again just before 9:30pm. All the rides were coupled and ready to roll. We had a quick clean up where the rides had been then we set sail. R took the DZ for his maiden voyage while I followed in the skydiver. It was strange to be following one of my own loads and I had a quick sad thought wishing my father was here to see his grandson driving. R was fine, probably a better driver than me, well 20 years of bad habits must have an effect. We arrived at the fair for just after 11 pm, it was too dark to spot the ride plots so we just best guessed it and will sort them out tomorrow.
R has saved me over 2 hours driving and that's only with his first shift, it's got to make life easier.

The sunday at our bit was very quiet, an indoor pitch is great when the weather is poor, but worthless when the sun shines, at least we had a half decent day at airth and will be back there next year if i can. Glad to here Rs maiden voyage went well and all is moved safely. its never your own driving you have to worry about, its all the other idiots on the roads! The old couple out for a sun drive have no idea what path a wagon needs at a sharp turn or roundabout. These are the ones that cause probs! Passed a showmans elderly erf on the hard shoulder of the m8 today with trailer on. He was crawling along trying to make the next exit, guessing flat tyre or drive problems. Guess he was making for truckfest? Unfortunately he was miles away from the next one and the hard shoulder was coned off about a mile ahead of him, hope he got away ok, these things are sent to try us!!

Sorry Showman i know it's your site but if I may.

Blakey

i vaguely recall you saying that you ran a 7.5 ton Volvo. I was down in Eyemouth at the weekend and there was a showman with a very tidy yellow and black FLC Volvo on a S plate with a couple of bits of kit. It wasn't you by any chance.

P.S

Showman

If it's of any interest I know where there are a number of very tidy ex large fleet FH 12 420 BHP with "I" shifts (all are sitting around the 500 click mark)

Blakey

I wish I had know I'd have popped over and said hello.
Tidy motor. BRS vehicle hire run a fleet of then during 1998 99. The only problem with them was they were so heavy unladen you were struggling to get much more than 2.75 tons of a pay load. That said for reliability it's undoubtedly way ahead of everything else.
